TURKSOY Secretary General met with the Chairman of the Association of Authors of Kazakhstan

During the bilateral meeting with the President of the Association of Authors of Kazakhstan Mereke Kulkenov, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev congratulated the President of the Union on the occasion of the approaching 90th anniversary of Association and stated that TURKSOY will take the most active part in the realisation of this important event which is of great importance not only for Kazakhstan but also for the whole Turkic world.

The role of the authors, poets and playwrights of the Turkic World in the cultural development of the Turkic World was also discussed at the meeting and it was agreed that the role of literary figures in preserving, maintaining and strengthening the unity among the Turkic peoples should be recognised and supported by the institutions. It was also agreed to provide the necessary conditions for the young writers of the Turkic World to write new works and the Forum of Young Poets of Turkic Countries, which will be held on 26-28 September this year under the auspices of TURKSOY with the support of the Almaty Governorate and the Writers' Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was discussed.

The project initiated by M. Shokan, a famous poet, philosopher, author of many books and Senior Advisor to TURKSOY Secretary General on Youth Affairs, is expected to benefit the spiritual education of the young generation and popularisation of poetry.
