"The Rhythm of Turkic Dance": International Dance Festival in Aktau
The international festival ‘Rhythm of Turkic Dance’ kicked off with an impressive ceremony in Aktau, which was declared as ‘Cultural Capital of the Turkic World’ for 2025 by TURKSOY. The festival aims at keeping traditional dance culture alive and pass it on to future generations by bringing together dance ensembles from the Turkic World.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of Mangestau Region Tilegen Abishev, Governor of Aktau Abylkayyr Baypakov, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, as well as many artists and guests.
In his opening speech, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasised that this festival is an important meeting point that increases cultural interaction among Turkic peoples. ‘I would like to thank our dancers, art lovers and all those who contributed to bringing us together this evening with the universal language of art. I wish that such cultural events that strengthen the unity of the Turkic world will continue to increase,’ Raev said.
In his speech , the Deputy Governor of Mangystau Mr. Tilegen Abishev said that the festival is meant to promote the national art of dancing at an international level and strengthen cultural ties between Turkic peoples. ‘We believe that artists performing at this festival will not only share their experience, but also reach new creative achievements,’ said Abishev and wished success to all participants.
Kazakhstan's first multinational song and dance ensemble ‘Birlik’ performed at the opening of the festival. The ensemble was highly appreciated with its performance of ‘Kara Jorga’, which has become the symbol of Kazakh folk dance, and the audience showed its interest and appreciation of national culture by accompanying the dance.
Nine different dance ensembles will take the scene during the two-day festival. The event aims at bringing together common cultural values of the Turkic World through dance while building artistic bridges between peoples.
