The 8th Conference and Fair "Heritage Istanbul" has begun
Within the scope of the event, companies operating in the fair, museology, archaeology, restoration and librarianship sectors came together with experts in their fields in conferences, interviews and workshops.
Attending the opening ceremony, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasised the importance of preserving and transferring the common cultural heritage shared by the Turkic World to future generations and stated that Turkey is a role model for the Turkic World in unearthing this heritage and especially in the field of heritage diplomacy.
Secretary General Raev who stressed that “Heritage Istanbul” provides an important platform for the protection and promotion of cultural heritage further added:
"In essence, we have met here to emphasise the cultural importance of our heritage and to find common solutions to expand its sphere of influence by preserving its authenticity and integrity. This heritage belongs to all of us. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, the Balkans, the whole world. At this point, we, as Turkic cooperation organisations, further pursue our work in mutual coordination. Turkic culture has a rich heritage rooted in thousands of years of history and in the vast territory reaching out from Altai mountains to the Balkans and beyond. This heritage shines more brightly today with the successful works carried out in various fields such as language, literature, music, art and architecture. In this way, we are further strengthening our common bond between the countries of the Turkic World. Heritage Istanbul participants also have a great duty in this process. The better we get to know each other, the more beneficial results we can produce. These results are undoubtedly of great importance not only culturally but also economically and socially. Today, no matter how much effort we make, there are elements that can damage our heritage. Preventing these damages can only be possible by making the process sustainable. At this point, the achievements of the Republic of Türkiye in the protection of cultural heritage and especially in the field of heritage diplomacy are admirable. The projects and activities carried out under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism not only bring to light our heritage that is about to be lost, but also make significant contributions to the promotion of Turkic culture and its richness in the international arena. These achievements also stand as an example to follow for the Turkic World."
The opening ceremony of the event was attended by the Governor of Kütahya Mr. Musa Işın, the District Governor of Şişli Mr. Ahmet Gazi Kaya, the District Governor of Çavdarhisar Mr. Abdullah Gedik, the Mayor of the Municipality of Fatih Mr. Mehmet Ergün Turan, the Mayor Municipality of Çavdarhisar Mr. Halil İbrahim Topbaş and the Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul Mr. Mahir Polat.
