Symposium dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the Birthday of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the author of the national anthem of Türkiye

Within the framework of  the commemorative year 2023 dedicated to  the 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet of independence Mehmet Akif Ersoy by TURKSOY, a symposium was held in Bukhara, the historical city of Uzbekistan and hometown of the poet's mother.

Organised in joint cooperation of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the  Governorate of Bukhara, the Authors' Union of Turkey, the Ankara  University of Social Sciences (ASBU), the Bukhara State University and  the Bukhara State Medical University, the symposium started on November 22nd,  2023 at the Ibni Sina Faculty of Medicine of the University of Health Sciences.

The opening and welcoming speeches of the symposium were delivered by Prof. Dr. Shuhrat Tashayev, the Rector of Bukhara State Medical University, Prof. Dr. Obidijon Hamidov, the Rector of the  Bukhara State University, Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan, the President of the Authors' Union of Türkiye  and Rector of the ASBU, Murat Kahraman, the General Coordinator of the Authors' Union of TURKSOY on behalf of the General Secretariat of TURKSOY and  Prof. Dr. Aynur Feyzioğlu, the Advisor to the Rector of Health Sciences University.

The opening speeches were followed by a lecture on Mehmet Akif Ersoy given by D. Mehmet Doğan, the Honorary President of the Authors'  Union of Türkiye. After the opening lecture, three sessions were held. The sessions of the symposium attended by university students as well as citizens of Bukhara featured paper presentations by authors and scholars from Türkiye and Turkic Republics who work and research on Mehmet Akif Ersoy and his works.
