Secretary General Sultan Raev met with Kairat Umarov, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev paid a visit to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Kairat Umarov at the Permanent Mission Headquarters in New York.

In the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and TURKSOY on the United Nations platform. Secretary General Sultan Raev shared information on the important projects carried out by TURKSOY and plans for events in Aktau, which was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2025. He also reported on various preparations for the upcoming Nowruz celebrations planned in cooperation with TURKSOY member countries and the events planned to be organised within the framework of the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abay Kunanbay.

Ambassador Kairat Umarov expressed his determination to support the initiatives of TURKSOY and emphasised the importance of promoting Turkic culture around the world. Stating that the United States of America is an important centre in this regard and noting the important role of TURKSOY in uniting  countries of the Turkic World on the international platform, Ambassador Umarov thanked Secretary General Sultan Raev for his contribution to cultural cooperation.
This important meeting was noted as one of the steps taken to strengthen the efforts to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World on a global scale.
