Secretary General Raev met with the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan of Uzbekistan

In the meeting held at the White House of Karakalpakstan on  April 14th, 2025, Mr. Orinbayev highlighted the important cultural and artistic work carried out in Karakalpakstan and noted that artists from Karakalpakstan take an active part in the work carried out in the Turkic world to preserve and promote cultural heritage.

President Orinbayev noted that Karakalpakstan has very important cultural values and is determined to increase efforts to promote these values, which are a unique part of the important cultural heritage of the Turkic world.  As an example of these activities, Amanbay Orinbayev cited the recent large-scale events held in the Shylpyk fortress, one of the historical buildings in the region. The President also noted that they are intensifying work on the inclusion of the historical kopuz of Karakalpakstan in the UNESCO list of national heritage.

Secretary General Sultan Raev also emphasized the unique place of Uzbekistan in the Turkic world in the field of science, culture and art. He noted that Uzbekistan, as one of the founding countries of TURKSOY, is currently one of the most active members of TURKSOY activities and has realized many projects during the year. 
 

Mr.  Raev who also shared his views on some of these works, put a special emphasis on those addressed to young people among them. Emphasizing that they organized the “1st Turkic World Student Theater Festival” in Tashkent in 2023, Mr. Raev noted that this project was successfully pursued  in other countries and stressed that the organization of the Turkic World Youth Forum in Karakalpakstan, which was organized in Kazakhstan last year, will be an important step in introducing Karakalpakstan to the youth of the Turkic World.

Secretary General Raev expressed his readiness to organize a conference in Türkiye in September or October in cooperation with TURKSOY to promote the historical kopuz of Karakalpakstan. 

At the end of the meeting, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev handed over the  Golden Order of Honor of TURKSOY to Mr. Amanbay Orinbayev, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan in recognition of  his outstanding contribution to  culture and art in the Turkic World.
