Secretary General Raev and his delegation visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye
Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. During the visit, which was also attended by TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf, Secretary General Raev met with Kazım Alataş, the Deputy Head of the Department of Education, Extension and Publications of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. During the meeting, consultations were held on handicrafts, which are an important part of the cultural heritage of the Turkic World, and cooperation opportunities were discussed.
The Turkic World has had a rich and deep-rooted handicraft tradition throughout history. Carpentry, rug weaving, tile art, marbling, wood carving, coppersmithing, miniature art and traditional dress crafts are among important components of Turkic culture. TURKSOY develops various projects to preserve these handicrafts, transfer them to future generations and promote them on international platforms. Other issues discussed in the meeting pertained to projects such as bringing together artists from the Turkic World, organising handicraft festivals and training sessions given by masters to young generations. In addition, ideas were also exchanged on the establishment of a network among artists of the Turkic World, joint productions and the promotion of their products on the international arena.
These visits and meetings are an important step towards the protection, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Turkic World on a global scale. The cooperation between TURKSOY and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will make a significant contribution to the transfer of Turkic culture to future generations and support artists.
