Gold Medal of TURKSOY to the famous Kyrgyz film director Sadyk Shey-Niyaz
In recognition of his contribution to culture and art in the Turkic World, the famous Kyrgyz film director, scenarist and producer Sadyk Shey-Niyaz received the Gold Medal of TURKSOY which is the highest level award of the organization.
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev who attended the celebration event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic in Paris handed over the Gold Medal of TURKSOY to the famous Kyrgyz film director, scenarist, producer and Ambassador of the Kyrgyz republic in France H. E. Mr. Sadyk Shey-Niyaz.
In the speech he delivered, Secretary General Sultan Raev said that the historical evolution of Kyrgyz cinema is important for the Turkic World and congratulated all those who contributed to this successful achievement.
Secretary General Raev who further stressed that the success of the Kyrgyz cinema industry which carries out many major projects is a great source of pride for the Turkic World also added that: “In recognition of his precious contribution to art and culture in the Turkic World, the distinguished artist Sadyk Shey-Niyaz has been awarded the Gold Medal of TURKSOY.”
The event also featured a short concert introducing traditional Kyrgyz melodies performed by the Ibarat Ethno Folklore Ensemble.
The Kyrgyz film director Sadyk Shey-Niyaz had directed the film shot in 2014 and dealing with the story of the legendary leader Kurmancan Datka who played a pioneer role in the war waged by the Kyrgyz people against the Russian Empire for their independence.
The action film which merges biographical features with drama was nominated for the Oscar awards by Kyrgyzstan in 2015.
