Counting down for spectacular events: Aktau, Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025

Aktau, the  Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025 is counting down for spectacular events it will be hosting throughout the year.

 

The Coordination Meeting on events to be held in Aktau, the  Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025 was held in Aktau, Kazakhstan on  February 7th, 2025 under the chairmanship of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and the Governor of Mangystau Nurdaulet Kagbay.

 

At the meeting held with the participation of senior officials of the city and the delegation of TURKSOY, participants discussed events to be organised in Aktau throughout the year.

Events, which will start in April with a magnificent opening ceremony to be organised with the participation of nearly 500 artists from all over the Turkic World, will go on throughout the year with more than 30 international thematic events.

 

-Preparations are underway for the Opening Ceremony 

 

The Opening Ceremony of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025 to be held in the open air in the city, which is one of the regions with the highest tourism potential in Kazakhstan on the shores of the Caspian Sea, will bring together thousands of  friends of the Turkic World. Within the scope of the ceremony, which will be held with the participation of more than 500 international artists, a special ethno-village will be created for the opening on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Visitors to the village will have the opportunity to discover the common culture and traditions of Turkic peoples and get acquainted with the historical heritage, traditional handicrafts and the local way of life of Mangystau.

 

-Sultan Raev, Secretary General of TURKSOY, said that Aktau is a very special city with its unique location and tourism potential.

 

During the coordination meeting, Secretary General Sultan Raev who stated that Aktau stands out among the Cultural Capitals of the Turkic World with its unique location further added that: "This year's Cultural Capital of the Turkic World is Aktau, the unique city of Kazakhstan on the coast of the Caspian Sea.  With its location, historical heritage and modern face, Aktau has features that distinguish it from our previous cultural capitals. We believe that events to be organised here will contribute to  the city, both in  cultural and touristic terms not only during throughout this year but also in the long term." 

 

The Governor of Mangystau Nurdaulet Kylybay emphasised the importance of  Cultural Capitals of the Turkic World and stated that they attach particular importance to the realisation of Cultural Capital  events at a high level:

"This project, which aims to strengthen the spiritual ties of the Turkic World, is a great honour and responsibility for us. We should introduce our national culture and traditions to our guests in the best possible way and announce the common values of Turkic peoples to the world from Aktau. By making the best use of this opportunity, we will showcase the full potential of our region in the international arena."

 

Events uniting the Turkic World

 

Events to celebrate  Aktau, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World  2025 will feature a wide range of events such as theatre, cinema, opera, dance, traditional arts, poets’ gatherings, painters’ gatherings, handcrafts’ festivals, historical and academic conferences, interviews with authors and commemorative meetings. All these cultural and artistic activities will further strengthen the cultural unity of  Turkic peoples and offer unique opportunities to all our artists and cultural figures.
