Coordination Meeting of TURKSOY and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan

A coordination meeting of TURKSOY and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan  was held on March 14th, 2025. At the meeting, Mr. Adil Kerimli, the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan and Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY discussed activities of TURKSOY for 2025 and exchanged views on cooperation opportunities.

Secretary General Sultan Raev shared detailed information on the opening of Aktau, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025 to be held on April 5th, 2025 and emphasized the contribution of the event to the cooperation of the Turkic World and promotion of the rich Turkic culture. 

At the meeting were both parties also discussed events to be held throughout the year within the scope of the Year of Bahtiyar Vahabzade 2025 declared by TURKSOY, Minister Adil Kerimli stated that Azerbaijan is pleased to participate in the opening event of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025 with a large group of artists and wished the planned events to be successful. Minister Kerimli also expressed the readiness of the Republic of Azerbaijan to provide all the support necessary  for the Year of Bahtiyar Vahabzade 2025.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev thanked the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan for its support and emphasised the importance of culture-oriented activities in Azerbaijan. Within the framework of his visit, Secretary General Raev also visited the Centre for the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries established by the Ministry of Culture and expressed his great appreciation as to creative projects carried out by the Centre. Stating that the Centre is an exemplary model for the whole Turkic World, Mr. Raev said that TURKSOY and the Centre are working on developing joint projects.

Another important item on the agenda of the meeting was the development of the animation film industry in the Turkic World. A presentation was made on the pilot project launched in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Centre for the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries in Baku and the Association of Animation Films of the Turkic World. 

The project aims at the establishment of a structure which will provide funding for animation projects aimed at children and young people to promote the common Turkic culture in cooperation with the relevant ministries of TURKSOY member countries.
