The famous poet of Azerbaijan Nizami Ganjavi was commemorated ın TURKSOY Headquarters

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) held aa commemorative  event  dedicated to the  880th anniversary of the birthday of  the Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi.

The event hosted by TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov took place in the presence of the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan  Anar Kerimov and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara in the Headquarters of the organization and gathered a large audience.

In the opening speech he delivered at the event, Minister  Kerimov expressed his happiness to be in Turkey for the first time  and added that it is an honour for him to attend this event of TURKSOY which carries out major activities for the Turkic World.

Minister Kerimov further said that it is a great  source  of happiness for him to see this exhibition of paintings of the Azerbaijani artist Mikhail Abdullayev held on the occasion of Nizami Ganjavi who is an important poet and philosopher not only for  Azerbaijan and the Turkic World but also for  the entire humanity.

Minister Kerimov who expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY for its support regarding the Year of Nizami Ganjavi which it declared  further added: "With universal values he proned such as justice, peace, wisdom and virtuousness, women's and human rights, Nizami Ganjavi entered history some centuries before philosophers of the Western world. His works shed further light upon these values."

Minister Kerimov stressed that Western philosophers actually spread these humanist ideals put forward by  Nizami, so that his ideas reached out beyond the Turkic World to humnaity in general.

Minister Kerimov who stressed that both Azerbaijan and the Turkic World must carry out activities to contribute to the worlwide promotion of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World such as  Nizami further underlined the fact that efforts are also being invested in other countries and various places of the world to promote Nizami's legacy and raise awareness about the fact that the Turkic World has brought forward such a valuable intellectual person.

TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov who also said a few words at the event reminded of the fact that upon the decision made by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in January, the year 2021 was declared Year of Nizami Ganjavi.

Secretary General Kasseinov stressed that in line with this decision, it was suggested that events worthy of the glory of Nezami shall be carried out by TURKSOY. Secretary General Kassseinov who added that as a member country of TURKSOY, Azerbaijan has never spared its support in this respect.

Ambassador Kasseinov who further said that Nizami  influenced  the entire literature and art of the Eastern World and left deep traces therein also added that: "Nizami, is a poet who became famous with his work 'Hamse' and influenced poets who lived after him. He  is a poet whose fame had an impact on the literature of Azerbaijan and the Turkic World and reached out to the entire world."

Mr. Kasseinov further added that Nizami's poems have strongly contributes to the development of the literature, miniatures, ornamental arts and other arts of Muslim peoples of the Eastern World.

Secretary General Kasseinov who also touched upon the exhibition of books of the National Library of Azerbaijan featuring Nizami's works besides the exhibition of paintings and miniatures of TURKSOY drew attention to the painting entitled "In the Light of Nizami" by the Azerbaijani painter  Vagif Ucatay. Mr. Kasseinov said: "In this painting, the artist depicts the jubilee ceremony which is an academic session held in the "Students' Room" of the  Hermitage Museum. On October 19th, 1941, scholars of Leningrad came together, inspired by the enlightening work and genius of  Nizami. This painting is a testimony of the great importance attached to Nizami despite the war, the blockade as well as all difficulties caused thereby."

In the speech he delivered at the event, Ambassador Ibrahim said that more efforts must be invested in the promotion of not only Nizami but also of all other wisemen of the Turkic World in order to ensure the promotion of  their legacy as well as  of  the brotherhood among peoples of the Turkic World on a global scale.

The event during which guests and participants examined the exhibited photos and books ended with a short concert along with the handing over of souvenir.

The Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Anar Kerimov offered the "Khari Bulbul" rosette featuring a flower which grows only in Shusha and has become the symbol of the war which ended with the victory of Azerbaijan.
