Commemoration of the famous hungarian turcologist Istvan Mandoki Kongur and the Kumyk poet Badrutdin Magomedov in Budapest

As part of its activities to introduce illustrious personalities of the Turkic World to young generations and pay tribute to their precious contribution to Turkic culture, art and literature, the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY held a commemorative event in Hungary, the new member country of the Turkic Council with an observer status.

The event which was organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Representation of the Secretariat General of the Turkic Council in Europe and took place on December 9th, 2019 in Budapest was dedicated to the commemoration of István Mándoki Kongur and Badrutdin Magomedov and featured the promotion of the book written by the Kumyk poet Badrutdin Magomedov in memory of the famous Hungarian turcologist István Mándoki Kongur and published by  TURKSOY.

The commemorative meeting which was  the first event held following the accession  of Hungary to the Turkic Council with an observer status was hosted by the Ambassador Janos Hovari and took place in the representation of the Turkic Council in Europe in the presence of  TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov, the Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary in charge of relations with Eastern countries Andras Baranyı, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to  Budapest  H. E. Vilayet Guliyev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Budapeste H. E.  Janibek Abdrashov, the Ambassador of Turkey to  Budapest H. E. Ahmet Akif Oktay,  the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council  Omer Kocaman, the Director of the Yunus Emre Institute in Budapest Yakup Gul, the former Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Andras Kelemen,  the turcologist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun and Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Somfai Karar along with  Assoc.  Prof. Dr. Julia Barthai Kongur’s spouse Ongajsa Mandoki Kongur as well as many scholars and guests.
