6th Summit of the Turkic Council in Kyrgyzstan
The 6th Summit of the Turkic Council gathering Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey took place in the city of Cholpan Ata in Kyrgyzstan. While Uzbekistan participated in the summit as "guest of honour", Hungary was there as an "observer country". At the summit which took place in the Ruh Ordo Cultural Center, presidents of the republics of participating countries delivered a speech in which they touched upon tişes among Turkic states. In the speeches they delivered, presidents also stressed the importance of activities carried out by the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY.
The President of the Republic of Turkey Erdoğan: "TURKSOY plays a key role in the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World on a global scale"
In the speech he delivered at the summit, the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed that ties among Turkic countries must be further fostered in all fields and that more concrete steps must be taken in this respect. President Erdoğan who reminded of the great philosopher of the Turkic Islamic World Yusuf Khass Hajip and his words in his work Kutadgu Bilig "Gold buried under black earth is no different from stones; once taken out from there, it becomes a sign of power" further said: “Just as gold buried under earth, ideas can never be appreciated for their true value unless they are turned into concrete actions” .
President Erdoğan who also referred to the considerable work done by TURKSOY in the field of culture said that joint activities to be carried out by TURKSOY together with the Turkic Academy and the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage will play an essential role in the worldwide promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev: "I suggest that the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage as well as the Turkic Academy and the Wisemen Council shall carry out their activities as joint organizations under the roof of TURKSOY ”
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the fact that the cooperation among young people of the Turkic World must be further strengthened. President Nazarbayev who also said that some international organizations of the Turkic World are not productive enough further added: "I suggest that the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage as well as the Turkic Academy and the Wisemen Council shall carry out their activities as joint organizations under the roof of TURKSOY".
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aliyev: “TURKSOY carries out valuable high-level activities”
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who stressed the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and TURKSOY further said: "As far as our cultural cooperation activities are concerned, I would like to stress that activities carried out by TURKSOY and the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage are of a particularly high level and value. Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with both of these organizations."
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev: “The Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2020 should be Khiva”
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev who participated in the summit as a guest of honour said that within the framework of the initiative launched in 2012 to declare one city of the Turkic World as its cultural capital the city of Khiva in Uzbekistan applied for this title for the year 2020.
The 6th Summit of the Turkic Council, also featured the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkic Speaking Countries (Turkic Council) hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev in Bishkek on September 2nd, 2018.
The above-mentioned meeting gathered the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramiz Hasanov and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Ambassador Ramil Hasan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó also attended the meeting as a guest. Ambassador Hasanov, submitted his report in which he informed the Ministers of Foreign Affairs about activities and projects carried out by the Turkic Council during his term in office.
TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov presented information on TURKSOY
Besides the author and Member of the Wisemen Council from the Kyrgyz Republic Beksultan Zhakiev, Prof. Dusen Kasseinov, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov, the Secretary General of TURKPA, the Chairman of the Turkic Council Prof. Dr. Darkhan Hıdırali and the Chairperson of the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage Günay Afandiyeva also presented an extensive report on actvities carried out by their respective organizations which are all related organizations of the Council.
