Toktogul Satylganov was commemorated in Bishkek
On May 23rd, 2014, a commemoration event was held in Bishkek, the Capital of Kyrgyzstan to pay tribute to the famous Kyrgyz author Toktogul Satylganov within the framework of "2014, the Year of Toktogul Satylganov" declared by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the author's Birthday.
The opening ceremony of the Year of Toktogul Satylganov took place at the State Museum of Painting and Sculpture in Ankara. Celebration events were then held in Eskisehir, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2013 followed by the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Cultural Center in cooperation of the Municipality of Bahçelievler in Istanbul and the Union of Municipalities of the Turkic World. Ater the opening events celebrations were held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan under the motto "Toktogul, The Nightingale of Alatau". Within the framework of the celebrations an international conference entitled "Toktogul Satylganov and the Turkic World" was also held at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Astana on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the poet's birthday.
The commemoration event in Bishkek was attended by Daniyar Narınbayev from the office of the President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, along with the Spokesperson of the Parliamentary Assembly of KYrgyzstan Mr. Asilbek Jeenbekov, the Minister of Energy and Industrial Issues Mr. Osmonbek Artıkbayev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY Mr. Dusen Kaseinov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan Beybit Isabayev, the Kyrgyz author Beksultan Jakiyev, the Governor of the Province of Toktogul in Jalal Abad Mr. Toktosun Barmanov, and the grand-son of Toktogul Satylganov Moldojan Toktogulov who all delivered a speech on the occasion. The commemoration event also featured performances of the National Orchestra as well as theatre actors and singers from Kyrgyzstan. At the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov handed over a souvenir plate designed on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Birthday of Toktogul Satılganov to Mr. Daniyar Narınbayev from the office of the President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov: "As time goes by, the intangible heritage left behind by Toktogul Satylganov will gain value and meaning"
In the opening speech he delivered at the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov said that TURKSOY is committed to the preservation and commemoration of the cultural heritage left behind by authors and artists of the Turkic World and therefore celebrates the anniversaries of the birthdays of the latter every year. Mr. Kaseinov added that within this framework, the year 2014 has been declared as Year of Toktogul Satylganov and said: "Toktogul Satylganov who is known as the Nightingale of the Tien Shan Mountains and has left a unique cultural heritage behind with his songs and poems in Kazak and Uzbek language. For us, the name of Toktogul stands for freedom and national spirit. This why his legacy will be commemorated through major cultural events throughout the year. Toktogul is our common ancestor, and we are grateful to the great Kyrgyz nation for paying tribute to the soul of this unique poet and author! Let me therefore extend my gratitude to all state officials present here today as well as to the President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Mr. Almazbek Atambayev for their valuable contribution to all activities carried out by TURKSOY”.
At the event, senior state officials such as Osmonbek Artıkbayev, Jamgırbek Bokoshev, Akimbek Tekeshov and Kirgizbay Osmonov amongst others were handed over the Medal of TURKSOY especially prepared on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Birthday of Toktogul Satılganov.
