11th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States held in Bishkek
The 11th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on November 6th, 2024.
The Summit hosted by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov was attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart Tokayev, the President of Uzbekistan Shevket Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Hungary Viktor Orban and the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar.
Secretaries General and Presidents of Turkic cooperation organisations such as TURKSOY, TURKPA, the Turkic Investment Fund, the Council of Elders of the OTS, the Turkic Academy and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation were also present at the Summit.
Prior to the Summit, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OTS convened to finalise the documents to be signed by the Heads of State and to discuss various issues on the agenda of the Organisation. At the meeting, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev delivered a speech on the activities of the Organisation in the last year and its vision for the future.
The rotating chairmanship of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) was transferred from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan as a result of the 11th Summit of the OTS held in Bishkek. The Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubayev who said a few words at the end of the summit stressed that the agenda of the summit issues concerning the strengthening of the Turkic World through economic integration, sustainable development, digital future and common security. Minister Kulubayev emphasised that Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the OTS will also advance in these areas.
Within the framework of the summit, the Bishkek Declaration was signed along with agreements, decisions and protocols in different areas. Among decisions made at the summit were the declaration of Bishkek as the Digital Capital of the Organisation of Turkic States in 2025, the adoption of the Charter of the Turkic World and the Green Vision of the Turkic World
Within the framework of the summit, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was awarded the ‘High Order of the Turkic World’.
